No matter where you go, when you bump into a fellow grad there is instant kinship. Most likely, recruits that fail physical tests will be sent right back to the beginning of boot camp to retrain with a different platoon (as long as their failure isn't the result of an injury or ailment). After that, it's hard to say. Others take a few years, even others a few years after graduating, but 99% of us get it; that feeling that everyone who wears YOUR ring is a brother, and those who wear the ring of another Service Academy are close cousins (in the case of Army, bastard stepchildren, but nobody's perfect.
